Castor River Farm
George Wright and Kim MacMullin grow their organic grain and raise animals on a 50 acre, third generation family farm in Metcalfe, Ontario. They go beyond organic by farming according to biodynamic principles, and use wind and solar power wherever possible, while also relying on vintage farm equipment that has been skilfully maintained. The manure from their animals provides fertilizer for their grains, which are only mechanically cultivated and never sprayed. Oats are often steamed and toasted prior to rolling to prolong shelf life, but Castor River Farm oats are rolled raw, which retains both flavour and nutrient content. Kim’s soap is some of the finest ever made, and has become a household essential for everyone at FarmScore.
