Roots Down Organic Farm

Roots Down Organic Farm is owned and operated by Jeff Klug. It is located north of Gananoque, near Seeley’s Bay, in the heart of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, where five eco-regions merge with the highest per-acre biodiversity in all of Canada.

The fields were first cleared in the 1850’s, and have been farmed ever since. In 1972, the farm was purchased by the Jones family, who over the years planted more than 10,000 trees. Through their efforts, what was once one large cornfield has become many small fields surrounded by forest - the perfect balance between farm and nature. This balance allows Roots Down to grow amazing food, while providing habitat for threatened species, such as black rat snakes and Blanding's turtles. The number of different plants and animals who call this farm their home is truly astonishing.
